We will extend an existing project to use the popular database system, MySQL. Using a MySQL database we will store information relating to products for sale on our example project. We will also learn to query the database using PHP and talk about the ways you can mitigate security risks such as SQL injections.

Querying the Database with PHP

In this stage we’re going to go through the PHP code to query the database and update the model code in our application.

Filtering Input for Queries

In this stage we’ll deal with the Shirt detail page to bring back a single entry. Whilst doing so we’ll also protect a security venerability called SQL injection.

Using Relationship Tables in MySQL

In this stage we’ll add a relationship table to deal with the sizes of the shirts in our store. We’ll cover how to use a many-to-many relationship in MySQL.

Limiting Records in SQL Queries

In this stage we’ll go over our pagination code and only bring back what we need from the MySQL database as and when we need to.
